Hey spring… Where are you?

This winter has been one of the longest, hardest ones many people have ever known. While it’s cute to snuggle up with some hot chocolate and a book an watch the snow, the cold and miserable days winter brings get old really fast.
So I am always on the lookout for signs of spring and my best indicator is when my hens start laying again. And guess what everyone….

A basket of eggs and a receding snow line! ☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸

adventures in the snow! ❄️❄️❄️

This winter has been a very cold and wet one. While you may complain (because who doesn’t want summer?) it is important that winter acts as winter should. If it doesn’t do its job, then the bug problems and tick infestations will be horrendous come summer (no one wants that) and the water reserves will dry up leading to brown grass an parched earth. So actually this winter is just what we need.
Anyways, the chickens find it amusing too… Below are some photos of them frolicking about.

Unfortunately, the cold and shorter days means that I don’t have many eggs….

Versus winter

A Big Thank you

I know I haven’t blogged in a while, and I sincerely apologize. While it is no excuse that the start of senior year has been busy at school and on the farm, it sincerely has.

However, I want to give a big shout out and thank you to all my customers. Because of your support and commitment to FOWL I have had a constant demand at both Rainbow Blossom and Harvest, as well as direct orders for eggs. I am so happy and excited to announce that for the first time I have had a constant demand that my supply cannot meet!! Therefore, look for updates on the new chickies I will be ordering to meet this growing demand.
What is your favorite type of chicken?
Any good egg recipes I should try??

P.s. I promise I will be blogging more consistently in the future— keep a lookout for fun posts on the turkeys, lamb, and our own new batch of baby chickies bred naturally at Freedom Run Farm!!

Is that an egg??

I guess we do come in all shapes and sizes…

Easter egg hunt

I knew a few hens were being naughty and laying somewhere else! Today I quietly waited and watched …. And was rewarded!

I guess it may have been more than a few hens…
